for the love of chocolate
Child proofing is now impossible. Ro boy can and will get to just about anything since he knows how to strategically move chairs around. In the latest incident, he went for the chocolate which he knew I kept stashed in a cubby hole on the kitchen counter. I normally give him a square or two of chocolate in the afternoon - if he hasn't had any other sweets that day.

Anyhow, I was preparing to do laundry when Ro boy came running down the hallway and handed me the wrapped chocolate bar. I was startled he'd gotten it but unfolded the wrapper to give him a piece, when I noticed that the chocolate bar had a small nibble out of each corner. I was so surprised he didn't just stay in the kitchen and gorge on chocolate, which is what I would have suspected of any toddler who got hold of chocolate. Why the little nibbles and then return the chocolate to mom? Hmmmm. I suspect he knows that chocolate (or sweets for that matter) is something that’s quite regulated around here and felt a twinge of naughtiness over his actions, even though he'd never been told not to eat chocolate. I feel sort of pleased. It was kind of a funny incident.

baby bun
I'm now 25 weeks pregnant. The baby has seemed especially frisky in the last 24 hours. Not much else to say really. Other than the usual, which is that I'm very tired and having trouble with insomnia. I had insomnia troubles with Ro boy too. I also have my third cold of the winter since pregnancy basically shuts down your immune system. Yay. Fun. Next week is my ultrasound though so it's not all bleak in pregnant land. Woo-hoo.

easter
I've always wanted to make an easter egg tree but I've never been able to even consider it because I think blowing eggs is about the most disgusting thing ever. Then, I got a catalog in the mail and it contained an egg blower. I wonder if it would really work. I'd love to make a pretty egg tree. I might try it.

das boat and kaykay
Ro boy is adding so many new words and sentences that I can't keep up anymore. Some words kill me because they have a distinct accent. When he says "bird", he sounds like he's from Brooklyn. But when he says "boat", he sounds German. A lot of words seem to have no bearing on English but I know what he means - like Thomas (the tank engine) is KayKay. Not sure where that comes from but he uses it consistently.
