We're homeowners! The closing went really smoothly. It just consisted of an hour and a half of signing papers that we didn't get a chance to read. The one that really freaked me out was the one that showed what we'd actually pay for the house if it took us 30 years to pay off the loan - a whopping $245,000. It made me feel rather faint. I have yet to figure out how houses are a good investment. They cost more than apartments. You have to pay almost $4,000 in taxes a year plus all kinds of repairs which won't necessarily add any value to your house. Replacing a roof is just normal home maintenance. It doesn't really add value to the home. So... Yeah. I know homes increase in value usually but I don't know if they really increase enough to recover $245,000. Yow.

Although, our property taxes are escrowed. I wonder if that $245,000 includes $4,000 a year in property taxes, which would total $120,000 in 30 years. If that's the case, then it's not so bad. I don't know though. I don't understand finance.

Poly-fill: the way to a man's heart
I went out on a limb and took Ro boy to Sit-n-Knit tonight. I figured I'd be there for all of 15 minutes but he was really good and lasted about an hour and a half. I even managed to knit a few rows.

Ro boy was besotted by S. after she gave him a piece of poly-fill from her quilt. He LOVES POLYFILL. He used to spend hours trying to liberate poly-fill from a small hole in one of our cushions. Anyhow, unlike usual, he didn't eat the poly-fill. Maybe he's realizing it doesn't go over well with the ladies. He just had fun giving it to people and waving it around.

I was happy he was so friendly. He even sat in zedebia's and S.'s laps. I was amazed. He's been rather standoffish of people for the last few months. Maybe he just needed more exposure to knitters.
