We took Ro boy to see his first movie last night. We went with "child-free" friends who said they would be really honored to attend Ro boy's first movie experience. They weren't being facetious either as they're really into movies, unlike myself.

Our favorite cinema, aptly called The Cinema, has a private screening room that you can reserve. They finally got Finding Nemo in, so off we went. Ro boy did pretty well. We sat in the general audience area for the first half of the movie and then he got antsy, so we adjourned to the private screening room where we realized he only had one shoe. He still had more space to drive his trucks around and we had a couch to sit on so it was nicer than normal seating but the sound wasn't as good. After the movie, we had to go look for his shoe which we found wedged in a seat.

Gravel does a happy boy make
My parents had a truckload of gravel dumped at their house. Ro boy is in 7th heaven. He has a gravel hill to climb. Rocks to throw. (no, no) and rocks to belly flop on. He does that a lot and it always makes mommy wince but it doesn't seem to hurt him at all. I guess he's a lot closer to the ground though. I'd be hurt if I flung myself down on gravel. He gets so into his dirt and gravel. One of his summer activities that I hadn't written about was how he makes dirt angels. He combines it with belly flopping and kicks up a good dust cloud and then flails his arms and legs around in the dirt. When we move into the house, we're getting him a pig wallow instead of a play set.

stunt husbands
I've been terrorizing Husband with my home décor ideas. (he, he) Which, prompted Husband to ask if he could have a Husband stunt man yesterday. I thought that was a funny idea. Then this article popped up on CNN. I'd like to rent 10 husbands for a week of home repair. Tee hee.

The house is going to make our lives terribly busy and complicated from mid October through Thanksgiving. Mold remediation, humivent installation, new drainage with dry wells, restore wooden floors, take down a few trees, paint at least three rooms although I'd like to do five. Somehow fit in all of the above on top of my normal somewhat hectic schedule. Yeah, right. I think we need a stunt squirrelly as well as a stunt Husband.

wall paper
I've always been really anti wallpaper. I just don't like it. However, I've heard more than a few horror stories of wallpaper removal that are making me rethink my anti-wallpaper stance as we have two rooms with wallpaper to deal with. We're going to try steaming it off and hopefully that will work but I don't know. We probably need a fall back plan just in case the wall paper starts tearing down the plaster walls or something. Aiee.

Actually, I don't hate all wallpaper because when I lived in England, I discovered anaglypta, which can be used really tastefully. It's designed to be painted on, so it doesn't look like normal wall paper either. I don't know if it's very common in the U.S. I finally figured out that some places call it English Embossed Paintable wallpaper, which is a real mouthful. Our house in England was completely papered in anaglypta and it didn't get on my nerves at all. It didn't conflict with the artwork. I can't have anything conflict with all my pictures and artwork. I'd go nutty.

I was also reading about PaperIllusions as well, which sounds like crazy stuff but less stressful than regular wallpaper. I don't know if I would like it either.
