The last several days have been total Chicken Little days. Ro baby did a lot of crying and carrying on -- like the sky was falling. I have no idea why. It was frustrating. Daddy and I were basket cases by the time we finally got him to bed at 11 p.m. on Friday night. Daddy bought us some beer but I was too tired to even drink it and I just crashed myself. Fortunately, Saturday went a little more smoothly and Sunday was rough but then he went to stay with my mom so that I can now work. I'm glad the real doozies of a day don't come up that often.
herding instincts
So, Ro baby's in a more insecure phase right now. He doesn't want to be away from either mommy or daddy. It used to just be mommy but now the sight of either of us leaving sets him off. He likes us to all be together. When we're out and about, he hates it when we physically separate at all -- even for something as small as one of us going to stand in line, while the other secures a nearby table in a restaurant. Any time this type of situation crops up, Ro baby freaks out. He can't figure out which parent he wants to be with and the other one is too far away for comfort even if they're only 10 or 15 feet away. He constantly cries and pushes and pulls at us to get us back together.
Sometimes he includes other people in our herd like the grandparents. Husband's parents came to visit a few weeks ago and we all went out to my mother's house. At one point, the grandpas were off looking at a tractor across the yard while the grandmas, mommy & daddy, and Ro baby sat on a very small porch. Ro baby didn't like the grandpas straying so far away, so he insisted I accompany him across the yard to round them up. Eventually, he had all six of us standing on this very little porch and you could tell he was satisfied and happy to have us there all together and very close around him. He loves having so many people who love him all around him at once. It's sweet.
self cleaning toddler
I gave Ro baby a Tofutti Cutie Saturday night just before bath time. Ro baby was chowing down on it so I just assumed he ate it all when I saw him without it later. Anyhow, Daddy discovered the solid/liquid lump of tofutti cutie under the chair as he got Ro baby ready for breakfast the next day. He came back to inform me when it suddenly occurred to him that he'd left Ro baby in the living room with a gooey lump of ice cream/chocolately goo on the floor so he dashed back to halt the damage. I was cringing and visualizing chocolate and goo smeared everywhere but there was none. Ro baby quite neatly ate it off the carpet leaving just a brown spot. I think he did a better job of cleaning up the mess than we could've. Still, I have another spot to get out of the carpet. I think it's my most hated task now.
bad kettle karma
Ok. The tea kettle I just photographed is dead already. It died spectacularly by spewing boiling water out it's handle. That's right. The handle and not the spout. Boiling water was all over the floor, counter, etc. I'm pleased I didn't get electrocuted or scalded. We haven't even been married for four years and we're now on our fifth electric tea kettle. Is it me or are they just crap? I really don't want to go back to the stove top models as they take forever and I melted our last one. he he. So, I guess that actually makes six kettles. Yow. not a very good track record.
