baby
I'm at 37 weeks today. Three weeks left until my due date and probably four weeks until I give birth. Yow. I was going to update last week but I was too stressed out that I might be having a baby this week since she was supposedly breech and I was going to to try ECV (external cephalic version) in an effort to avoid a c-section. However, an ultrasound showed the baby is vertex (head down) and I spent the rest of the week feeling relieved and somewhat drained. Sometimes the ECV procedure goes wrong/doesn't work and you have to have a c-section immediately, which means if you elect to try it, you have to be prepared to bring a baby home. I wasn't ready to give birth this week. Mentally or in any other way...so I'm glad the problem is gone now.

I really don't want a c-section. As common as they are, people seem to forget they are still major abdominal surgery. The maternal death rate is 5x higher with c-sections than with regular birth. (I'm not trying to sound alarmist, both rates are still quite low.) I'm hoping the whole birth thing goes ok because I'm not into being cut on at all.

Otherwise, I'm still throwing up sometimes and I had a terrible nosebleed today. I've been having small ones for months but this one was the worst. The baby seems to be up more at night suddenly, which is annoying. She seems to be getting the hiccups a lot lately as well.

gardening
Last weekend, we rented a roto-tiller and husband tilled for hours, so we could put in two wild flower gardens. This weekend we have spouts. Yay! The funny about tilling up the soil is that it really caught the attention of the local robins. They were hanging around like vultures waiting to snatch up any worms that got turned up. It was sort of gross.

I also planted a batch of purslane, which sprouted up this week as well. Most people think is a weed but it actually makes wonderful salads and is very high in Omega-3's. I'll plant another round in two weeks. You can get some here. It's easy to grow and super good for you -- and tasty.

Our last gardening project was to build a small simple playhouse for Ro boy. It's just a simple A-frame covered in mesh. Then, you plant peas around it and they grow all over it and create a leafy bower. That's the idea any way. The reality is that despite all the other leaves and plants in the yard, a rabbit got in to our yard and ate down the pea vines on one side of the structure. I was highly annoyed as I'd started the peas indoors a few weeks ago to give them a good head start in the outdoors. Sigh. Husband thinks the project has failed but I'm not giving up on it yet. I think the surviving peas look pretty good.

Ro boy
Ro boy was sick all weekend. It started with a fever of 103F Friday night and he was still at 102 Saturday morning and then back up to 103F by Saturday night and felt feverish Sunday morning but I didn't take his temp as it pisses him off really badly. It finally faded away after his afternoon nap. He started getting a few blotches on his face Monday, so I think he has a mild case of roseola. I think it's ultra contagious because Ro boy was around a boy who appeared feverish at noon and then I noticed he had a fever a mere seven hours later.

I took him to play at the McDonalds playland, which is probably a serious infection reservoir with all those plastic tunnels for kids to crawl through. Ro boy has such a great time there though. Every time we've gone in the last few weeks, he's found a little playmate and then they hold hands and run through the tunnels together. Little girls seem to particularly like Ro boy and always want to play with him, hold hands, etc. It's terribly cute. This last time, Ro boy and the other children all hugged and kissed each other good-bye and the kids were really sad to be split up. It was just unbelievably sweet and no parents were involved at all. It was just spontaneous.

Ro boy also met a 6 month old baby on Mother's day and he was so sweet and nice to the baby. The baby even slapped him across the face and he didn't get mad or anything. He was just surprised but kept being nice to him. It made me feel a bit relieved at how he might treat his sister. I wish I could give birth to a 6 month old. Newborns aren't too interesting to a toddler. It's all sleep, cry, eat, sleep, cry, eat. Ugh. Still, I'm looking forward to getting this all over with. I'm sick to the teeth of being pregnant.
