I am a total bookworm. I read as much as possible and I would love to read with Ro baby but he is rarely interested. He used to love being read to up until he learned how to walk and then he'd just knock the book out of my hands and run away to play with a truck. Because of this, I've been trying much harder to find books that might engage his interest because I think reading is so important and also so -- wonderful. So, I've been awaiting my package of books from Chinaberry with more than a little eagerness. We got a really excellent one for Ro baby called Sheep in a Jeep. It's got great lines like ...

Sheep in a Jeep on a hill that's steep.
Uh-oh! The Jeep won't go.
Sheep leap to push the jeep.
Sheep Shove.
Sheep Grunt.
Sheep don't think to look up front.
(mayhem ensues from there)

I read the book to Ro baby before bed time and he really liked it. He sat through the whole thing TWICE, which is good for him. I was pleased. It's so hard to find good children's books. It seems like so much rubbish is printed these days with boring stories an even worse illustrations. Various members of our family buy Ro baby books but they don't put any real thought into it and most of them are lame. I just get rid of them. They'd never encourage a love of reading. One of the cool things about Chinaberry is they try to pick out the best books they can find, so you don't have to weed through lots of rubbish.

I think the book, The Yellow Star,looks really good for when Ro baby is a bit older. I've always, always, always wondered what I would be like if I had been born during a different period in history such as Europe in WW2. (Sort of a nature vs. nurture question) I wonder if I would've helped my Jewish neighbors in some way or if I would've stood by and watched them get taken away? I'd like to think I would've done something of course but you never know I guess. Only a few were courageous.

Ooh. I also got this very cute lamb hot water bottle because my old one sprung a leak recently. The lamby one is cute and small. The perfect size for Ms.Uterus when she's feeling irritable. Wheeee!
