Ro baby is Mr. Nonverbal Communication. When he wants to leave the house, he grabs my backpack and drags it to the door - spilling stuff out of it all the way. I can follow a little breadcrumb trail of cell phone, wallet, check book and keys all the way to our door. If I don't happen to notice, he starts yelling until I come find him hanging on the doorknob.
big machines
Lately, Ro baby has been bringing his own stuff for our outings - like his favorite DVD case. (Who needs a security blanket when you can have a security DVD case instead, right?) We bought Ro baby the Big Machines DVD for $10 at the grocery store and he totally fell in love with it. It's all construction equipment and farming equipment - showing how to build roads, a house, and also farming stuff. He wants to watch it all the time. In fact, he loves it so much that he carries the DVD case with him all the time -- even to bed. He's even taken a bath with it a few times and occasionally uses it as a replacement spoon during meals. It's looking worse for the wear as you can see below. He really likes gnawing on it when he isn't just staring at the picture of the bucket loader on the cover. (We don't keep our DVDs in the cases by the way. They'd never survive his brutal handling.)
I always thought kids liked soft and cuddly things but Ro baby couldn't care less about stuffed animals and such. He never gives them a second glance.

The well loved DVD case
Chess, anyone?
Hands down, Ro baby's favorite movie is Geri's Game. He laughs his ass off every time he watches it. He loves how the old man says HA! and slams down the chess pieces. Because of the short, he has a great interest in chess pieces himself. The kid's museum here has a chess table and anyone can play with it. Mostly no one does, so Ro baby has a field day banging down the pieces and shouting HA! himself. It's hilarious.
